The Number of the Beast

Beastman
28 mm

Call me the Manimal
That's what I am
Call me the Manimal,
Half beast half man

Beastman is one of Skeletor's closest and most loyal henchmen, able to command wild creatures of Eternia to aid Skeletor's schemes. But sometimes he chafes under his lord's harsh command and covets power of his own...  A Quest Miniatures MOTU figure.

"Ragggh! You think big club make warrior?" "Guess we'll find out!"

  2. LMAO, can't take out of my mind every time Skeleton skolded him like "you fool failed me agaiiinnn!! -but Skeleton, why did you send me to the velcro raid mission".

Skeletor is the kind of boss that sends Merman to a desert mission and steel balls the robot to the rusty bottom of the sea and still complain about how they failed.

Can't decide yet whether I love it or just like it a lot: your Color treatment makes those look super instead of a bunch of clowns (girly bird, mustachio the mighty and fluffy magenta dude), and part of this treatment is the attention to detail like how those highlights simulate fur shines (something impossible on 15mm) and yet, I dig so much the crazy oversaturated colors of the cartoons that kinda miss it, even knowing it would look wrong on a miniature.

Congrats, this one is twice the cool Duncan the stache was a post ago.

Let's see where this quality creep leads (pun intended).

    Cheers!

    1. Skeletor has terrible personnel management skills. He's a classic 80's cartoon villain who can't help being miserable to everyone at every opportunity, even though it's ultimately self-sabotaging. Another RPG blogger once aptly called it the "centrifugal power of selfishness and cruelty"...

I tried very hard to be mostly faithful to the cartoon colours etc. while also making these guys look like non-cartoony characters. So they retain the feel of the familiar characters, but could fit in with the general population of my display case, or an unrelated game...

  3. BTW, poses-wise, the bottom pic looks like an epic jungle dance battle. Can imagine them flexing their knees like Street Fighter GIFs.

  5. These are so good.

The colours that you are using are brilliantly realising the MOTU look, but without the subjects looking cheap and plastic-y.

    Fantastic.

    1. Thank you! I'm trying to generally stick with the "canon" appearance, but make them not look silly or cheap. Hence, Beastman's black fur bikini with bluish highlights, instead of the stupid bright blue fur garment featured on the cartoon/toy XD

That said, Eternia is a strange place, and I'm sure that there could be bright blue furry creatures there...
