Men walkin' 'long the railroad track
Goin' someplace there's no goin' back
Highway patrol choppers comin' up over the ridge
Hot soup on a campfire under the bridge
Shelter line stretchin' 'round the corner
Welcome to the new world order
Families sleepin' in their cars in the Southwest
No home no job no peace no rest
The highway is alive tonight
But nobody's kiddin' nobody about where it goes
I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light
Searchin' for the ghost of Tom Joad
This figure is actually a scientist casualty marker from the Khurasan "fleeing scientists" set. It has a certain pathos which lent itself really well to this subject, once I added some street scenery and personal effects.
Remember, in the end, nobody wins unless everybody wins. - Bruce Springsteen
Now that is cool with a capital C, Mr. M! BTW, if that is your poem, please keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteHardly! That's from The Boss himself, inspired by Woody Guthrie and "The Grapes of Wrath". Anyway, glad you like the figure :)
DeleteThat's a wonderful piece, very different. The poem setting the mood before showing the miniature was a stroke of genius.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I do think "Tom Joad" is Springsteen at his best, and his most raw. I can listen to it over and over...
DeleteVery unique piece! Excellent work as always, and good taste in music too.
