Half-Life 2 sculpt and paint

Headcrabs
15 mm scale

I quickly made these and painted them over the last day or so as a fun, low-pressure project.    Headcrabs are the main "small and annoying" foe in the Half-Life games.  They only do a little damage to the player, but poor NPC's attacked by them are turned into inhuman "headcrab zombies" that are much more dangerous:

These will tie in nicely whenever I get to painting Khurasan's not-Half-Life-2 figures "Dave Rimmer and Desiree Kim".  I've already converted Dave's weapon to look more like one of the game models (the Overwatch pulse rifle):

  1. Very nice, they look just like it.
Great job on the base as well. What did you use to make it look like that?

    1. Cover base (a penny) in greenstuff. Poke with various round-ended tools until it looks like this :)

Incidentally, here I used the "immerse in boiling water" method to quickly cure the putty, so it was ready to safely sculpt the crabs on about 1/2 hour after doing the base.

  2. Very nicely done, Halflife has to be one of my favourite game settings.

  3. Excellent work Allsion, they look the very image of the original headcrab, only better and with less corners ;)

  4. Glad you like it... just a little thing, but this is about the extent of my sculpting abilities :P Some of the other HL/HL2 monsters would be fun to do as well, but I'd definitely want to work my way up to something like a Vortigaunt...

Hmm, at some point, clicked images on Blogger started "overlaying" on the page, Lightbox-style. I liked it. Now they don't seem to do that any more. Anyone know why?

  6. Wow love them, and have to admit I'm very excited to see you sculpting stuff again... even if it's just little fun projects like those. Gotta love the painting... made me remind of the "nosecrab/scientist" mini I made a year ago (that headcrab with buttcheeks and skull showing thru its fron side).

Glad you mention it, not only they stopped using the lightbox-style image display (still remember when I came here asking you how you did that) but comments input box appears in the same page, while not long ago it did on a pop up window...

No clue when or why it happened :(

    1. Oh, I definitely remember the nosecrab. *shudder*...

I changed the appearance of the comments, to allow replying to specific comments. But I didn't change the image thing :P Welp, another Blogger mystery.
