Skyward Sentinel

Colabreta Anti-Air/APC Combo
15 mm scale

A distaste for excessive military production leads the People's Planetary Partnership to design flexibility into much of their equipment.  Although this armored infantry transport currently mounts a pair of radar-guided hypervelocity cannons to engage enemy dropships and ground attack flyers, the turret can be rapidly exchanged for a variety of other weapons, sensor suites, or even rescue apparatus for disaster emergency use.

Although it's often frustrating, I still find conversion to be fun and satisfying.  The AA turret here is made from an Ion Age "Moth 88" gun, plasticard, greenstuff and the end of a novelty pen.  Sometimes it's about working with what you've got in your bitz box and not being hung up on your original design (which was rather different).

  1. Lol, I like the teddy :). Shouldn't it be tied to the front bumper?
Again, I like your work. A very nice and clean finish on both the conversion and painting.

    1. Noooo, if they tie it to the bumper, it'd get too dirty!

I've actually been wondering about the "clean finish" on these, I know for a fact that actual military vehicles get very mucky. I'll just say these "home guards" have time to wash them down every day.

  2. Very nice work, Mr. M: painting, modifications, and picture setting of vehicles and troops.

  3. Thanks Jay! I was actually going to get some of that dried lichen stuff you use for bushes but it was stupidly expensive at Michael's (though still cheaper than those $&+$# Woodland Scenics trees!). So I photoshopped in some shrubberies instead.

    1. You might try a Joann's fabric shop for the dried moss. It's the least expensive stuff that I've found.

And the Teddy Bear is a great tribute to your toddler: an inclusion of the little-one into your modeling-gaming world(?).

  5. When I do convert models - like you I find it a bit time consuming to do it as often as I once used to - I try to make do with the items that I have to hand, the be master of the possible, if you know what I mean.

Lovely painting. Is the teddy sculpted on to the model? Its great.
