Need for Speed

Riflething Urban Ops Recon Buggy
15 mm scale

This vehicle started life as a Hot Wheels "Max Steel Turbo Racer" toy:

Pretty cool wheels... But I knew I could do better.  Luckily, this toy is almost exactly in-scale (judging by the driver's cockpit), and solidly futuristic-looking, so it didn't need much work.  I swapped the spindly front wheels for some from another car and added a turret (armed with a Space Marine plasma pistol) and Riflething gunner.  I don't do many vehicles to go with my figures, so this is kind of a step out for me.  We'll see how much painting gets done before the baby arrives, but I'll definitely have a go at it...

  4. I've got the same car, I was going to add a turret too, but I like what you've done to the wheels!

    1. Yeah, it's a small change that looks a lot better. The original wheels apparently can't decide between street racing and off-road.

  6. Like Barks, I picked this car up a month or two ago, so I'm glad someone else sees some potential in it. Now I just need to see your paintjob,er, in case I get no ideas of my own!!

  7. Neat conversion. Funnily enough, your conversion reminds me of the Brotherhood of Nod buggy in the first Command and Conquer.

    Cool stuff!

    1. I can definitely see the resemblance. This would probably look good with Khurasan's GOTA troopers in a red color scheme, too. Very Nod/Cobra...

God I sucked at C&C, just like every strategy game ever...

    2. C&C Win 95 version was not an easy walk in the park. By far, the most challenging of strategy games. Haha
